Enhancing Penalties for Assaults on Healthcare Workers: Oregon House Bill 2620

Posted 8 months ago by Bill Schueler

Oregon is again attempting to enhance penalties for assaults against hospital worker after an unsuccessful attempt in 2015.

House Bill 2620 is will be presented to the House Judiciary Committee very soon. When the date is known, we will pass it on.

In the meantime, you can find and write your Oregon legislators and let them know how important this bill is to the safety of all hospital workers, especially emergency nurses.

If you have been on the receiving end of violence at work in the ED, we would like to hear from you. You can write your testimony and send to webmaster@oregon-ena.org or use the "contact us" button on the website. Let us know if we can use your story publicly.

I was assaulted at work in the ED on 1/22/2017. It cost me 3 days of work, an orbital fracture and possibly permanent damage to my right eye. I plea with all nurses to write letters to support stiffer penalties to these people. I will be sharing my story as often as I can and am writing letters.
