HB 4142 Update 2/3/22

Oregon House Bill 4142 had its first public hearing in front of the House Judiciary Committee with overwhelming support. Early opposition to the bill includes concerns that it will unfairly criminalize those with mental illness and will not decrease violence in healthcare. 

Even with limited time for verbal testimony, our own Angela Powell was able to be our voice to advocate for the bill. We heard later in the committee meeting that there was a plan to carry the bill over to another meeting, in order to hear more public comment. We will post and update.
